Welcome to the website for the ALD Foundation Trust. Our aim is to provide support for families affected by adrenoleukodystrophy.

Adrenoleukodystrophy or ALD is an inherited genetic disorder affecting the adrenal glands and the central (brain & spinal cord) and peripheral nervous system (nervous system control over our limbs, etc). There are two forms of ALD – one with onset in childhood that is more severe (as depicted in the movie "Lorenzo's Oil") and a milder form that arises in adulthood. Currently there is no cure for ALD, but research has made some remarkable inroads (read more...).

If you would like to learn more about ALD and what support and resources are available to help, please contact us.
